THERE ARE 2 LUMINOX WATCHES
Luminox watch company was formed in 1989 by Barry Cohen and Richard Timbo. Barry Cohen worked in the watch industry and came across Swiss Self-powered illumination system that gave him an idea to make watches more visible in the dark and lo illumination situations. With this idea, he joined forces with Richard to create a cutting edge luminescence and readable watches that were high quality and high performance watches.
In 1993, Navy SEALSs officer Nick North was given a task to seek more dependable watches that fit for night missions. He discovered the Luminox watches at a trade show and worked closely with Luminox watch company to develop watches more specifically for the Navy SEALs. Which this spark of even, Luminox watch became famous.
The next was to market the same watches to the pulic and while gaining popularity, Luminox was approached by US Air Force pilots flying the F-117 Nighthawk fighter jet in 1999 - Luminox developed a watch for these pilots and then contacted Lockheed Martin, which turned into an exclusive arrangement to produce Lockheed Martin timepieces.
Luminox has never lost focus for last 20 years from its mission and this has been confirmed and validated by the many elite military and law enforcement units that have adopted Luminox as their personal equipment. The man on the street has shown particular interest in Luminox, figuring rightly that if Luminox could be trusted to develop a watch for use by Navy SEAL on critical night missions, then its watches have to be able to stand up to everyday use. From here on, Luminox remains determined to continue combining cutting edge technology, forward-thinking design and extreme performance. Luminox delivers, when and where it counts.
